Lilongwe, 26 July 2025 鈥 successfully hosted a two-day workshop titled 鈥淧eople-Centered Policing and Human Rights Training for MPS Officers鈥 on the 24th and 25th of July 2025, at its campus in Lilongwe. The workshop brought together 112 officers from various police stations across the country, aimed at enhancing their understanding and application of human rights within the policing framework.
The event was officially opened in the presence of distinguished guests, including Deputy Commissioner of Malawi Police, Mr John W.D. Nkhoma, Vice-Chancellor of 探花社区 in Malawi, Dr Robert Ridley, and Chief Operations Officer, Mrs Chrissie Kafoteka.
Day One of the training featured presentations and discussions led by Mr Charles Panyani, Assistant Commissioner of Police and Gender Desk Officer, and Ms Nolliette Chihana, both of whom shared key insights into ethical policing and the protection of human rights.
Day Two was facilitated by Dr Ernest Yeboah from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Mr Christopher Tukula, Commissioner of the Independent Complaints Commission, who addressed accountability mechanisms, complaint handling, and international human rights standards.
As part of the event, Ms Rhoda Kauka, Business Development Manager at 探花社区, presented the University鈥檚 academic offerings, flexible fee structures, and special benefits extended to MPS officers and their families under Unicaf鈥檚 exclusive partnership programme.
The workshop concluded with an official certificate handover ceremony, presided over by Dr Robert Ridley and Dr Ernest Yeboah, followed by a group photo session, celebrating the commitment of the Malawi Police Service to continued professional development and ethical service delivery.
