Tufunzeni and Unicaf Partner to Expand Access to Quality Higher Education Through Landmark MoU

A transformative partnership was formalised today as Unicaf and Tufunzeni signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Unicaf offices in Nairobi. The MoU, signed by Tufunzeni CEO and Founder, Mr Dennis Omollo and Unicaf’s Kenya Country Manager, Ms Winnie Rachael, aims to provide members of the Tufunzeni community with access to generous scholarship opportunities for online Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degree programmes through Unicaf’s partner universities in the UK and Africa.

The ceremony opened with warm welcoming remarks, highlighting the significance of the collaboration. Speaking at the event, Dennis Omollo shared:

“Today marks a transformative moment for the Tufunzeni community as we proudly enter into this partnership with UNICAF to provide scholarships that will open doors to quality higher education for our teachers. This collaboration is more than just a signing – it’s a shared commitment to breaking barriers, empowering individuals, and investing in the future of underserved communities.”

Unicaf echoed this commitment, reaffirming its mission to make higher education more accessible.

“We are proud to partner with Tufunzeni in this important initiative,” said Winnie Rachael. “At Unicaf , we believe that education is a powerful tool for transformation, and through these scholarships, we aim to empower individuals to unlock their potential and create lasting change in their lives and communities.”

The MoU sets the foundation for several impactful joint initiatives, including:

  • Scholarship Programmes for Tufunzeni educators to pursue online university degrees.
  • Training Workshops to support skills development and professional growth.
  • Knowledge Sharing Sessions between experts from both organisations.
  • Community Engagement Projects focused on educational outreach and development.

Already, one of Tufunzeni’s managers is enrolled in a Unicaf programme, emphasising the immediate value of this initiative.

This partnership also underscores a shared focus on capacity building, collaborative research, and sustainable community development. To further engage stakeholders and the wider community, Tufunzeni and Unicaf will co-host a joint webinar aiming to provide deeper insights into the collaboration and the opportunities it brings.
