The agreement marks a significant step towards expanding access to quality higher education and professional development opportunities for young people across Kenya. Through this collaboration, YIDP members will benefit from generous Unicaf Scholarships, enabling them to pursue internationally recognised Bachelor鈥檚, Master鈥檚, and Doctoral degree programmes online.

The MoU was signed by Collince Alan Dundo, Founder & CEO of YIDP, Teresa Muliro, Project Manager at YIDP, and Ms Winnie Rachael, Country Manager at Unicaf Kenya, in the presence of representatives from both organisations.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, both parties emphasised the importance of education in driving youth empowerment, innovation, and sustainable development. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to equipping young people with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

Through its scholarship platform, Unicaf continues to support individuals and organisations by providing flexible, affordable, and internationally recognised higher education opportunities.

Much like our own scholarships, this programme gives students an opportunity to make their dreams come true, and fulfill their ambitions.

The aim of the session was to engage students in a nationwide call for startups, entrepreneurs and innovators, while providing valuable insight into initiatives that support the development of innovative ideas into impactful and sustainable real world solutions.

It also highlighted the importance of cybersecurity in the current digital landscape and of ICT in driving economic growth, innovation, and job creation in Zambia.

The session began with welcoming remarks by Senior Marketing Officer, Ms Nancy Nkonde. Following these opening remarks, ZICTA was introduced, and a general overview of the ICT Innovation Programme was presented.聽

The different stages of the process were also discussed, including the support provided, such as mentorship and funding opportunities. Following this, there were presentations of various success stories that came about through the programme and guidance was given to the students regarding the application process and eligibility criteria, after which students were given the opportunity to have any questions they may have answered.聽

Closing remarks were given by Ms. Abigail Chisala, Dean of Student Affairs, where she encouraged the students to embrace the call from ZICTA for applications.

The session was delivered by Ms. Vanessa Chavula-Menshi, Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship Analyst and Ms. Memory Sichula, Consumer Education Officer. Both presenters brought an impressive mix of technical expertise and practical experience, effectively guiding students through Zambia鈥檚 innovative digital environment.

In attendance were students and staff from various academic programmes from the University, demonstrating strong interest in innovation and entrepreneurship activities.聽

The ZICTA ICT Innovation Programme Awareness Session was an impactful and successful engagement that enhanced students鈥� understanding of ICT innovation, available opportunities, and the role of the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority in advancing national development.聽

Through this partnership, eligible beneficiaries will have the opportunity to study online for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees with reputable partner universities in the UK and Africa, supported by Unicaf鈥檚 innovative digital learning platform.

Held from 16th to 18th March 2026 at Legacy Resort, the workshop brought together representatives from public and private higher education institutions across Zambia. The event aimed to equip Learning Programme Evaluators with the knowledge and practical competencies required to effectively utilise the HEA鈥檚 Online Programme Accreditation Module.

探花社区 was represented by Prof Douglas Kunda and Dr Daniel L. Mpolomoka, subject matter specialists in ICT and Education respectively, who actively engaged in both the theoretical and practical sessions of the workshop.

The workshop focused on strengthening evaluators鈥� understanding of the national programme accreditation framework while introducing them to the structure, functionalities, and workflow of the digital accreditation platform. Participants were trained to assess and review programme submissions using standardised criteria, ensuring consistency, objectivity, and alignment with national quality assurance standards.

A key highlight of the workshop was its emphasis on transitioning from manual to fully digital accreditation processes. Through hands-on sessions, evaluators gained practical experience in using the system to improve efficiency, transparency, accountability, and traceability in programme evaluation.

The training also reinforced alignment with the Zambia Qualifications Framework (ZQF), ensuring that learning programmes meet the required level descriptors, learning outcomes, and competency standards.

By the end of the workshop, participants enhanced their ability to conduct efficient, transparent, and standards-based accreditation assessments, supporting the continuous improvement of higher education quality in Zambia.

• Masozi Bweupe, Programme Coordinator at 探花社区, addressed Health, Well-being, and Work-Life Balance, underscoring the importance of maintaining holistic wellness alongside professional success.

Under this partnership, members of Gifted Gems will be eligible for generous scholarships, enabling them to pursue internationally recognised degree programmes online through Unicaf鈥檚 partner universities in the United Kingdom and Africa.

The MoU was formally signed by Ms Winnie Rachael, Country Manager, Unicaf, Kenya, and聽 Ms Caroline Ndebu, Executive Director, Gifted Gems, in the presence of key team members from both organisations, including Ms Viona Ogol (Marketing Officer, Unicaf), and Ms Mwende Karutu (Programme Manager, Gifted Gems).

Under the theme 鈥淓mpowering Student Voice for Leadership & Civic Engagement,鈥� the contest showcased a diverse range of perspectives and topics, including civic responsibility, innovation, cybersecurity awareness, and community transformation.

The judging panel comprised 探花社区 staff members Mr John Mtelemuka, Ms Faith Minjale, and Ms Rabeca Mvula, who evaluated participants based on content originality, delivery, structure, stage presence, and overall impact.

The programme commenced with opening remarks by Mr Limbani Mwale, who emphasised the importance of public speaking as a foundational skill for personal and professional growth. Participants were then guided through the competition structure, ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the process.

Following a series of engaging and thought-provoking presentations, the top three participants were recognised for their outstanding performance:

• 2nd Place: Florine Thobela (Computer Science)
• 3rd Place: Prince Mattaka (Economics and Business BA)

The lecture attracted representatives from the National Health Insurance Management Authority (NHIMA), the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ), and SAICRIO, reflecting strong industry interest and the relevance of the topic. The session focused on the critical reforms and strategic shifts required to achieve Universal Health Coverage in Zambia within the next four years.

Participants engaged actively throughout the session, contributing to in-depth discussions, asking insightful questions, and debating key issues surrounding sustainable health financing. The interactive nature of the lecture fostered a collaborative learning environment, allowing attendees to explore practical solutions to complex healthcare challenges.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting the lecture鈥檚 practical value, relevance to current healthcare priorities, and the engaging delivery by Dr Chela. The session not only enhanced understanding of UHC but also emphasised the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in driving meaningful healthcare reform.

Speaking after the event, Dr Chela underscored the urgency of addressing financing gaps and implementing sustainable strategies to strengthen Zambia鈥檚 healthcare system. He noted that achieving Universal Health Coverage requires coordinated efforts, innovative thinking, and a commitment to long-term impact.
